Gacha System Guide

Honkai: Star Rail is a gacha game, with the usual gacha system you can see in other games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. The system is formally called Warp in Honkai: Star Rail, and you can use your Stellar Jades/Oneiric Shards/Passes to pull on any available banners and get random characters and Light Cones.

160 Stellar Jade = 1 Star Rail Pass/ Special Pass = 1 Warp (Pull) in the banner
1600 Stellar Jade = 10 Star Rail Pass/ Special Pass = 10 Warp (Pull) in the banner

There are a total of 4 banners in the current version of Honkai: Star Rail:

Special Notes

Each pull will give you either Undying Starlight or Undying Embers

Before starting, it is best for you to know that every time you obtain 3-5 stars of character or Light Cone, you will also obtain either Undying Starlight or Undying Embers. These currencies can then be used in the Store.

Undying Starlight – Can be obtained by pulling in any of the available banners.
For each 4-Star Character = 8 Undying Starlight
When said 4-Star Character has maxed out Eidolon = 20 Undying Starlight

For each 5-Star Character = 40 Undying Starlight
When said 5-Star Character has maxed out Eidolon = 100 Undying Starlight

For each 4-Star Light Cone = 8 Undying Starlight
For each 5-Star Light Cone = 40 Undying Starlight

Undying Embers – Can be obtained by pulling in any of the available banners. You’ll generally get 20 Undying Embers for each 3-Star Light Cone you obtain.

Departure Warp

➥ The Departure Warp is specifically for new Trailblazers who just started the game, with a 20% discount on the banner. This ‘Starter’ Warp is permanent, and you can only make 10 consecutive pulls (unlike other banners where you can do 1 pull).

➥ For every 10 Warps, you will get at least one 4-Star character or Light Cone. There is also a limit of Warps you can do in this banner which is 50 Warps. Within those 50 Warps, a random 5-Star character is guaranteed.

➥ The drop rates for Departure Warp (starter banner) are as follows:
0.6% chance of receiving a 5-Star character
5.1% chance of receiving a 4-Star character or Light Cone
50 pulls are guaranteed a 5-Star character

Available Entities in the Departure Warp

5-Star characters ★★★★★ (Chance rate of 0.600%):
Yanqing, Gepard, Bronya, Welt, Himeko, Clara, and Bailu.

4-Star characters ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
March 7th, Dan Heng, Arlan, Asta, Herta, Natasha, Serval, Pela, Sampo, Hook, Sushang, Qingque, and Tingyun.

4-Star Light Cone ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
21 Light Cones in total.

3-Star Light Cones ★★★ (Chance rate of 94.300%):
21 Light Cones in total.

Advice / Recommendation

➥ Beginners in Honkai: Star Rail are recommended to pull on this banner until you get the guaranteed 5-Star character. However, once you get the 5-Star character, it’s better to stop as the pity system is separate and does not count in the Character Event Warp or Regular Warp.

➥ A total of 40 Star Rail Passes are required to make the full 50 pulls, and you should be able to get them easily in the early game by participating in events and completing missions.

Character Event Warp

➥ Character Event Warp is a time-limited banner that will change the featured character every few weeks. Currently, the event warp features Seele (a 5-Star Quantum character) and will swap to Jing Yuan in a few days.

➥ Every 10 Warps guarantees a 4-Star character or Light Cones, and the featured character receives a drop-rate boost. A random 5-Star character is guaranteed within 90 pulls and the featured 5-Star character is guaranteed within 180 pulls.

➥ The drop rates for limited character event warp banners are as follows:
0.6% chance of receiving a 5-Star character
5.1% chance of receiving a 4-Star character or Light Cone
90 pulls are guaranteed a 5-Star character, while 180 pulls are guaranteed the limited 5-Star character

➥ For the first time you receive a 5-Star from the banner, there is a 50% chance it will be the featured 5-Star character. If the 5-Star character you receive is not said the featured character, you’re guaranteed to get the featured character the next time you get a 5-Star character.

Available Entities in the Character Event Warp

Standard 5-Star characters ★★★★★ (Chance rate of 0.600%):
Yanqing, Gepard, Bronya, Welt, Himeko, Clara, and Bailu.

Featured 5-Star characters ★★★★★ (Chance rate out of 5-Star entity: 50%):
Seele

Standard 4-Star characters ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
March 7th, Dan Heng, Arlan, Asta, Herta, Natasha, Serval, Pela, Sampo, Hook, Sushang, Qingque, and Tingyun.

Featured 4-Star characters ★★★★ (Chance rate out of 4-Star entity: 50%):
Hook, Pela, Natasha

Standard 4-Star Light Cones ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
21 Light Cones in total.

3-Star Light Cones ★★★ (Chance rate of 94.300%):
21 Light Cones in total.

Advice / Recommendation

➥ Remember that there are no 5-Star Light Cones in this banner, and you can only get a 5-Star character. This is the banner where you want to use your Stellar Jades and exchange it for Star Rail Special Pass. Usually, a limited banner lasts for 21 days (3 weeks).

➥ When you get a 5-Star character, there is a 50% chance you get the featured character and another 50% chance you get the standard character. The term losing 50/50 means you get the standard character instead of the featured one. But not to worry because you will then get a 100% chance to get the featured character IF you get another 5-Star character.

➥ Additionally, the accumulated pulls of the pity system carry over to the next Character Event Warp in future versions.

➥ For example:
Case 1: If you did 50 pulls in the Seele banner, you are at the 50 pity. Then, the pity carries over to the next banner – Jing Yuan. This means you only need to do another 40 more pulls in the Jing Yuan banner to get a 5-star character (it may not be Jing Yuan because of the 50% chance).

Case 2: If you did 50 pulls in the Seelie banner and get Seelie, your pity will be reset to 0 pity. The pity carries over to the Jing Yuan banner. This means you need to do another 90 pulls in the Jing Yuan banner to get a guaranteed 5-star character (it may not be Jing Yuan because of the 50% chance).

Light Cone Event Warp

➥ Light Cone Event Warp is the same as the Character Event Warp. It is a time-limited banner that will change the featured Light Cones every few weeks. Currently, the event warp features In the Night (Seelie’s signature Light Cone) and will swap to another in a few days.

➥ Every 10 Warps guarantees a 4-Star character or Light Cones, and the featured Light Cones receive a drop-rate boost. A random 5-Star LC is guaranteed within 90 pulls and the featured 5-Star LC is guaranteed within 180 pulls.

➥ The drop rates for limited Light Cone event warp banners are as follows:
0.8% chance of receiving a 5-Star Light Cone
6.6% chance of receiving a 4-Star character or Light Cone
80 pulls are guaranteed a 5-Star Light Cone, while 160 pulls are guaranteed the limited 5-Star Light Cone

➥ For the first time you receive a 5-Star from the banner, there is a 75% chance it will be the featured 5-Star Light Cone. If the 5-Star Light Cone you receive is not the featured one, you’re guaranteed to get the featured Light Cone the next time you get a 5-Star Light Cone.

Available Entities in the Light Cone Event Warp

Standard 5-Star Light Cones ★★★★★ (Chance rate of 0.600%):
Standard 5-Star LC include Night on the Milky Way, Something Irreplaceable, But the Battle Isn’t Over, In the Name of the World, Moment of Victory, Sleep Like the Dead, and Time Waits for No One.

Featured 5-Star Light Cone ★★★★★ (Chance rate out of 5-Star entity: 75%):
In the Night

Standard 4-Star characters ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
Standard 4-Star characters include March 7th, Dan Heng, Arlan, Asta, Herta, Natasha, Serval, Pela, Sampo, Hook, Sushang, Qingque, and Tingyun.

Standard 4-Star Light Cones ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
21 Light Cones in total.

Featured 4-Star Light Cones ★★★★ (Chance rate out of 4-Star entity: 75%):
Post-Op Conversation, Good Night and Sleep Well, The Moles Welcome You

3-Star Light Cones ★★★ (Chance rate of 94.300%):
21 Light Cones in total.

Advice / Recommendation

➥ You have a 75% chance to get the featured 5-star Light Cone if you win, which is much higher than the Character Event Warp. If you lose the 75/25% chance and obtain a standard 5-Star Light Cone for the first time, you are guaranteed to get the featured 5-Star Light Cone for the next time you get the 5-Star entity.

➥ Since a random 5-Star Light Cone is guaranteed within 80 pulls, but failing the 75/25% chance will make you go for 160 pulls. The pity system can cross over between different Light Cone pools.

Regular Warp

➥ Regular Warp is the standard banner in the game, and it is almost similar to the Departure Warp (Starter banner), with the exception that you can do both 1 pull or 10 pulls, and it cost 1 Star Rail Pass or 10 Star Rail Passes, respectively.

➥ This banner is permanent, and you are guaranteed a 4-Star or above character or Light Cone for every 10 Warps. In addition, every 90 Warps guarantees a 5-Star character or Light Cone.

➥ The drop rates for the Regular Warp (standard banner) are as follows:
0.6% chance of receiving a 5-Star character or Light Cone
5.1% chance of receiving a 4-Star character or Light Cone
90 pulls are guaranteed a 5-Star character or Light Cone

➥ There are no characters or Light Cones that have an increased drop rate boost in this banner.

➥ After pulling 300 times in the Regular Warp, you can choose one of these characters- Himeko, Welt, Bronya, Gepard, Clara, Yanqing, and Bailu- to your team. This reward can only be claimed once.

Available Entities in the Regular Warp

5-Star characters ★★★★★ (Chance rate of 0.600%):
Yanqing, Gepard, Bronya, Welt, Himeko, Clara, and Bailu.

Light Cone ★★★★★ (Chance rate of 0.600%):
Night on the Milky Way, Something Irreplaceable, But the Battle Isn’t Over, In the Name of the World, Moment of Victory, Sleep Like the Dead, Time Waits for No One.

4-Star characters ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
March 7th, Dan Heng, Arlan, Asta, Herta, Natasha, Serval, Pela, Sampo, Hook, Sushang, Qingque, and Tingyun.

4-Star Light Cone ★★★★ (Chance rate of 5.100%):
21 Light Cones in total.

3-Star Light Cones ★★★ (Chance rate of 94.300%):
21 Light Cones in total.

Advice / Recommendation

Since this banner has no time limit and only has a specific 5-Star character or Light Cones (that will not be changed anytime soon), it is recommended to pull on this banner only when you obtain a Star Rail Pass. By any means, do NOT use your Stellar Jades on this banner and it’s better to save them on the limited banner instead.

Soft Pity

Soft pity is like a hidden mechanic that increases your probability of getting a 5-Star after a certain number of pulls. While it is not confirmed by the developer of Honkai: Star Rail, theorists of the community did research that the soft pity will start on your 75th pull on Character Event Warp and 65th pull on Light Cone Event Warp. After that, the soft pity system will increase the odds of receiving a 5-Star character or Light Cone by 6% with each pull after said pulls.
